Inter delivered a commanding performance at the Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday evening, dismantling Cremonese 4-1 in the sixth round of Serie A.

The result not only confirmed their dominance on home soil but also temporarily lifted them into fourth place in the standings, level on points with leaders AC Milan, reigning champions Napoli and Roma, all of whom play their respective fixtures on Sunday. The star of the show was undoubtedly Ange-Yoan Bonny, who played the game of his life: the French forward scored once and provided three assists, leaving the fans in San Siro applauding his every touch.

The match began with Inter setting a high tempo, keen to assert themselves after a somewhat uneven start to the campaign. It took them only six minutes to break the deadlock, and predictably it was Lautaro Martínez who struck first. Bonny, making his mark early, provided the assist with a precise pass, allowing the Argentine striker to slot home his sixth goal of the season. The early strike settled any nerves and gave Inter the control they needed to dictate proceedings.

Cremonese tried to stay compact, but Inter’s pressure gradually wore them down. Just before halftime, Bonny turned from provider to scorer. In the 38th minute, after another wave of Inter attacks, he found space and unleashed a clinical finish that doubled the lead. With the score 2-0, the Nerazzurri looked comfortable and headed into the interval with a commanding advantage.

Inter’s intensity did not waver after the restart. Within 10 minutes of the second half, Federico Dimarco added the third goal in the 55th minute, a strike that showcased his ability to join the attack from the wing. Barely two minutes later, Nico Barella capitalised on another devastating move, once again set up by Bonny, who was everywhere in attack. It was the Frenchman’s third assist of the evening, capping off an extraordinary individual display. By the 57th minute, Inter were cruising at 4-0 and San Siro was buzzing.

Cremonese did manage to grab a late consolation. Substitute Federico Bonazzoli struck in the dying stages to make it 4-1, but it was too little, too late. For Inter, the three points were never in doubt after such a ruthless attacking display. The victory pushes Simone Inzaghi’s team up to 12 points, level with Milan, Napoli and Roma, and underlines their credentials as title contenders, even if the competition at the top looks fierce this year.

For Cremonese, the defeat was a reality check. It was their first loss of the Serie A season, having previously enjoyed a strong start that had lifted them into the upper half of the table. They now sit eighth with nine points, still in touch with the European places but reminded of the step up in quality when facing the league’s elite.

Elsewhere in Serie A, fans were treated to a goal-fest at the Stadio Olimpico, where Lazio and Torino shared six goals in an entertaining 3-3 draw. Portuguese international Nuno Tavares started for the hosts, but it was Torino who struck first through Giovanni Simeone in the 16th minute. Lazio, however, hit back with two goals from Matteo Cancellieri, in the 24th and 40th minutes, turning the score around before the interval.

The drama did not stop there. In the second half, Che Adams equalised for Torino in the 73rd minute, only for Saul Coco to make it 3-2 in the 90+2 minute of stoppage time, seemingly giving the visitors all three points. But Lazio refused to give up, and deep into added time in fact, in the 13th minute of stoppage Danilo Cataldi kept his nerve from the penalty spot to secure a 3-3 draw. The result leaves Lazio hovering in the lower half of the table, 13th for now, while Torino remain in 16th.

Another significant result came in Parma, where Lecce picked up their first Serie A win of the season, a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory away from home. Riccardo Sotil scored the decisive goal, rewarding Lecce’s persistence and defensive solidity. Portuguese defender Danilo Veiga started and played his part in keeping Parma at bay. Both teams are now level on five points, but for Lecce the win could prove vital for confidence and momentum as they look to climb away from the relegation zone.

Overall, Saturday’s Serie A fixtures highlighted both the unpredictability and the excitement of the league this season. Inter’s emphatic display suggests they remain one of the favourites to challenge for the Scudetto, but Milan, Napoli and Roma are keeping pace. Cremonese’s early-season promise took a hit, while Lazio’s defensive issues remain evident despite their attacking potential. For Torino, resilience was evident, even if they will rue letting victory slip so late. Lecce, meanwhile, finally broke their duck, adding another storyline to what is already shaping up to be a captivating campaign in Italy.
