Inter remain one win away from the Scudetto after 2-2 draw in Turin

Inter took another important step towards the Serie A title this Sunday, even if the match in Turin ended with a feeling of frustration. The Milan side were leading 2-0 away to Torino and looked ready to secure a 4th consecutive league victory, but a late reaction from the home team changed the story of the afternoon. Torino fought back in the final 20 minutes and rescued a 2-2 draw, a result that was still enough to leave Inter very close to celebrating the 21st Scudetto in their history.

The result, Torino 2-2 Inter, does not change the main picture at the top of the Italian league. Inter remain in full control of the title race after Matchday 34, with 79 points, 10 more than Napoli, who are 2nd with 69. With only a few rounds left to play, the situation is now very clear: a victory next weekend against Parma will be enough for Inter to mathematically confirm the title.

For long periods, everything seemed to be going exactly according to plan for the leaders. Inter started with confidence, controlled the rhythm of the match and showed the maturity of a side that has spent the season managing difficult moments with authority. Torino, playing at home and still looking to mathematically confirm their Serie A survival, tried to stay compact and competitive, but Inter looked sharper and more dangerous in the decisive areas.

The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute, and once again Federico Dimarco was at the centre of the action. The Italian international, one of the most influential wide players in the league this season, delivered another decisive assist, finding Marcus Thuram for the opening goal. The French forward made no mistake and gave Inter the lead, confirming the attacking efficiency that has helped the Milan club dominate the championship.

Dimarco has been one of the standout players of the campaign, and his numbers continue to underline his importance. With that assist, he moved closer to another remarkable attacking contribution from his position, and he was not finished. Inter continued to press and, after the break, the Italian full-back created another goal, this time for Yann Bisseck.

In the 61st minute, Dimarco delivered again and Bisseck made it 2-0. At that stage, the match seemed almost decided. Inter had the advantage, had control and appeared to be moving calmly towards another victory. The German defender celebrated an important goal, while Dimarco reached 17 assists for the season, confirming his status as one of the main creators in Serie A.

At 2-0, it looked like Inter were heading for a routine win, but Torino refused to accept defeat. The home side needed a point to confirm survival and gradually began to take more risks. Inter, perhaps already thinking that the match was under control, lost some intensity and allowed Torino to grow into the game.

The comeback began in the 70th minute through Giovanni Simeone. The Argentine forward gave Torino hope with a well-taken goal that changed the energy inside the stadium. Suddenly, Inter were no longer comfortable. Torino gained belief, pushed more bodies forward and forced the visitors to defend deeper than expected.

Just 9 minutes later, the equaliser arrived. Nikola Vlasic converted from the penalty spot in the 79th minute and made it 2-2, completing a strong reaction from Torino. For the home supporters, it was a moment of relief and celebration, because that point mathematically confirmed Torino survival in Serie A. For Inter, it was a warning that even with the title almost secured, concentration must remain high until the final whistle.

Although Inter wasted a 2-goal lead, the draw is unlikely to cause major concern in the title race. The gap over Napoli remains very large, and the Milan club are now just one victory away from the championship. After such a consistent season, only a dramatic collapse would prevent Inter from lifting the Scudetto.

The match in Turin was also another example of the strength and depth that have defined Inter campaign. Even on a day when they failed to close out the game, they still showed enough quality to put themselves in a winning position. Thuram scored, Bisseck contributed from defence and Dimarco once again proved decisive in attack. The frustration comes not from the performance as a whole, but from the way the advantage disappeared so late in the match.

For Torino, the draw had a very different meaning. Coming back from 2-0 down against the likely champions is an important achievement, but the biggest reward was the confirmation of survival. With that point, Torino secured their place in Serie A for another season, giving the club and its supporters a reason to celebrate despite not winning the match.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Como also had an important afternoon in the fight for European places. After 2 consecutive defeats, Como returned to winning ways with a 2-0 away victory against Genoa, in a match where Portuguese forward Vitinha started for the home side. The Greek striker Douvikas opened the scoring in the 10th minute, giving Como an early advantage and allowing the visitors to manage the game with greater confidence.

Como sealed the victory in the 68th minute through Assane Diao. The Senegalese forward made it 2-0 and confirmed a valuable result for a team still dreaming of Champions League qualification. With the win, Como remained level with Roma in 5th place, both teams on 61 points, while Juventus sit 4th with 63 and AC Milan are 2nd with 66.

The Champions League race remains one of the most interesting battles in the final stretch of the season. Como and Roma are still applying pressure, while Juventus know that any slip could prove costly. The match between AC Milan and Juventus later in the day could therefore have a major impact on the table, especially for the teams chasing a place in the top 4.

Genoa, meanwhile, missed the chance to confirm survival on this matchday. Sitting 14th and 11 points above the relegation zone, the club remain in a comfortable position, but the defeat to Como means they will have to wait a little longer before mathematically securing their place in Serie A for next season.

The first match of the day, played in Florence, ended without goals. Fiorentina and Sassuolo drew 0-0 in a game where neither side managed to find the breakthrough. It was a result that did little to change the wider picture, but it added to a Serie A Sunday full of tension in different areas of the table.

Still, the main story of the round remains Inter. The 2-2 draw away to Torino was not the perfect result, especially after leading by 2 goals, but it still pushed the leaders closer to the finish line. Inter are now standing on the edge of another historic title, and next weekend against Parma they will have the opportunity to turn a dominant league campaign into official celebration.
