'I strongly feel that my input is appreciated and taken seriously at Go Ahead Eagles,' Hake motivates in a press statement. 'The pleasant cooperation with the club leadership contributes significantly to this. From the beginning, I have felt the trust of Jan Willem van Dop, Paul Bosvelt, and Kees Vierhouten. They believe in my work and viewpoint, and the way I want to further develop this together with the staff.'

'The goal of Go Ahead Eagles is to become a stable Eredivisie team,' the coach continues. 'Everything we do is in the service of that. Every day we look at what is needed to build and guarantee that stability, without overestimating the size of the club. Within the possibilities of the club, we try to make steps.'

'For the continuity of the club, it is good that we have been able to extend René's contract by a year,' technical manager Paul Bosvelt adds his side of the story. 'It is our common goal to grow, and that includes a ‘growth mindset’ that René also strongly has. Of course, his experience and the way he has the team play are also important.'

Go Ahead has made an excellent start to the season and is eighth in the Eredivisie after seven matches. Hake's team only lost to Feyenoord, PSV, and AZ. The 51-year-old from Drenthe has been working as head coach of Go Ahead since the summer of 2022. He previously worked in that position at FC Utrecht, SC Cambuur, FC Twente, and FC Emmen.
