Amin Sarr appears to be continuing his career in the Bundesliga. The Swedish forward, who transferred from SC Heerenveen to Olympique Lyon during the winter transfer window, is now on his way to VfL Wolfsburg.
The swift forward was acquired for eleven million euros from Friesland last season. In the Abe Lenstra Stadium, Sarr formed a successful partnership with Sydney van Hooijdonk, which earned him a transfer to the French top tier. Just before the close of the transfer window, he now seems to be continuing his journey in the Bundesliga.
According to insiders, Sarr is being loaned to Wolfsburg from Lyon. A mandatory purchase option of nearly fifteen million euros has been added to the deal. For this option to be triggered, the Swedish player must participate in a certain number of matches.
Moreover, the treasurer of Heerenveen can already begin drafting an invoice for Lyon. The Frisians have negotiated a ten percent sell-on clause for any future transfer involving Sarr. This percentage is calculated based on the profit and not the entire amount. Nonetheless, it will still add several hundred thousand euros to the club's coffers.
Blow for Van Hooijdonk
Sarr's transfer is a setback for none other than Van Hooijdonk. The forward, who still maintains close contact with Sarr, appeared to be on his way to Wolfsburg for a long time. Due to Bologna's capricious approach, the Germans pulled the plug on a multimillion-euro transfer on Wednesday. Wolfsburg switched to Sarr and found success in France.
