Pep Guardiola holds Manuel Akanji in high regard. The Spanish manager thanks the Manchester City leadership for the Swiss defender.
Akanji joined in the summer of 2022 for twenty million euros from Borussia Dortmund and has proven to be a great success for Manchester City. After the match against Liverpool last weekend, Guardiola was particularly complimentary about his defender.
'I know Jeremy Doku was the man of the match, but both at Stamford Bridge and against Liverpool, Manu was incredible,' said Guardiola.
'What a signing Manchester City has made. He can play as a wing-back, a central defender, now as a midfielder... And if he gets in the final phase, he can also give decisive passes. He is fast, strong, what a player Txiki Begiristain has brought me,' Guardiola said.
Akanji has played ten Premier League games this season and in 450 minutes of play, he has scored two goals.
