After the match, Gattuso spoke at a press event, expressing his admiration for Ajax. "Ajax is playing at the moment without thinking too much, where young players are doing incredible things. We played against a team with a lot of good players, a lot of quality, and they are doing well. We knew it would be difficult, but we also showed some good things."

Partly due to Ajax's results against Marseille, the Netherlands has lost the fifth place in the coefficient rankings to France. However, Gattuso was not concerned with that. "I haven't thought about that for a second. I just wanted to win this game. Of course, we are very happy, because it's always good to gain points for France. But honestly, I wasn't focused on that."

Aubameyang became the standout player for the French side on Thursday with a hat-trick, leaving behind a difficult period. "I have never doubted him," Gattuso told RMC Sport. "But of course, it's difficult when a striker doesn't score. Especially here, we crucify someone if it doesn't go well."

With his three goals, Aubameyang is now just one goal behind the Colombian Radamel Falcao in the race for the all-time top scorer title of the Europa League. Aubameyang now has 29 goals, while Falcao scored one more. The striker is happy with his three goals, but especially with the way his teammates have treated him in recent weeks.

"I am a people person and we must remain humble. I thank my teammates for their support and am very touched by this solidarity."
