Chile could not do better than a goalless draw against Paraguay in the night from Thursday to Friday. In a press moment, Internazionale striker Sánchez drew attention by harshly criticizing the facilities provided by the Chilean federation. 'In our training center, there were already three showers that didn't work. We had to shower in turns.'

Paraguay and Chile then played their international match in the Monumental David Arellano, the stadium of Chilean top club Colo Colo. According to Sánchez, the conditions there weren't much better. 'Then you come to that stadium, turn on the shower, and get drenched in your own feces. Is this the national team or a third division?'

Because Chile failed to win for the fourth time in five matches in the World Cup qualification cycle, they are now in eighth place, which does not qualify for the tournament. Recently, coach Eduardo Berizzo was dismissed. Nicolás Córdova is temporarily in charge.
