Sevilla resumed training this Monday morning at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios after enjoying three days of rest.

The break was granted by coach Matías Almeyda as a reward for the team’s stunning 4-1 victory over Barcelona before the international pause   a result that not only boosted morale in the dressing room but also gave Sevilla valuable points in La Liga, where every win is crucial in their fight to climb the table. With that confidence-building triumph behind them, the Andalusians now turn their full attention to their next league challenge: a home fixture against Mallorca at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

The training session saw several important returns. Gabriel Suazo, Adnan Januzaj, and Joan Jordán all trained at the same pace as the rest of the group, providing Almeyda with welcome options ahead of Saturday’s match. Suazo was the first of Sevilla’s internationals to report back, having captained Chile in their sole fixture against Peru during the FIFA break. His consistency has been key this season: in fact, he is the third player with the most minutes in the squad since the start of the campaign, only behind Lucien Agoumé and Kike Carmona. His return ensures stability on the left flank, an area Sevilla rely on for both defensive solidity and attacking transitions in their La Liga battles.

Januzaj’s situation is more delicate. The Belgian winger has battled ankle issues since October 1, when he picked up a sprain in training, but showed resilience by making himself available against Barcelona. The international break has given him time to recover, and although he is still training partially with the group, his return could provide Sevilla with an extra creative spark for their attacking schemes in La Liga. Joan Jordán, meanwhile, has also rejoined the group, bringing much-needed balance and tactical control to the midfield.

On the injury front, Alfon González and Tanguy Nianzou continue to follow individual recovery programs. Their absence reduces Almeyda’s defensive depth, but the squad remains confident in compensating with the players available.

International duties are still delaying the return of several key men. Odisseas Vlachodimos will be the next back in camp after featuring for Greece in their defeat to Denmark, a result that ended their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup. The goalkeeper will now refocus on La Liga, where Sevilla need his presence between the posts. Meanwhile, Ørjan Nyland, Djibril Sow, Rubén Vargas, Akor Adams, and Nemanja Gudelj are all expected to return later in the week. Their reintegration will be essential for Almeyda, who wants his full squad sharp and ready for Mallorca.

Saturday’s clash against Mallorca, set for 2:00 p.m. at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, will be another decisive chapter in Sevilla’s La Liga campaign. Mallorca may be struggling in the standings, but they are known for being a difficult and physical side to break down. For Sevilla, three points would not only consolidate the momentum from their victory over Barcelona but also improve their position in a tightly contested league table.

Supporters are optimistic that Sevilla’s resurgence under Almeyda can turn into consistency in La Liga, where the club aspires to re-establish itself among Spain’s European contenders. With key players regaining fitness and internationals returning, the focus is on maintaining intensity and showing that the win against Barcelona was not just a spark but the beginning of a sustained run.
