Marc-André ter Stegen is not particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming salary negotiations with Barcelona. The club is once again attempting to reduce salary costs, but the German goalkeeper expressed that he has already made significant concessions in recent years.
In recent years, several players have already made salary sacrifices to ensure the survival of Barcelona. La Liga President Javier Tebas has indicated that the salary structure of the Spanish champions is still not in order. As a result, salary costs must be reduced before Barça can attract new players.
Ter Stegen was asked if he was willing to take a salary cut again, but the goalkeeper was somewhat hesitant. "The club and I have always had an open and direct relationship. They know that I'm always willing to have discussions; we've done that in the past as well. But ultimately, the feeling prevails that we have already made significant efforts."
The repeated revision of salary compensations does not exactly indicate a firm policy. According to Ter Stegen, the club should take a moment to reflect on the situation. "Whether it was me or others, all decisions were reviewed, and everyone reevaluated things. In this situation, it is the moment to think carefully, in every aspect."
