Patrick Kluivert received bad news from his medical staff. The coach of Adana Demirspor saw one of his stars sidelined. Mario Balotelli will be out of action for months.
The 33-year-old striker had a revival under Kluivert this season. The enfant terrible had threatened to fade into obscurity in recent years, but the Dutchman carefully polished the attacker. Balotelli even scored three times in five league matches.
However, Balotelli is now sidelined at the Turkish club. Adana announced on Wednesday that the striker needs knee surgery. The rehabilitation is scheduled to take at least two to three months.
Just last Sunday, Balotelli made a substitute appearance in the match against Fenerbahçe (0-0). During that match, Adana pulled off a surprise and handed the top Istanbul club their first point drop. It was the Italian's last contribution for the time being.
