Pressure on Erik ten Hag at Manchester United remains high after victory over Liverpool

Liverpool keeps the pressure on Manchester United high. The Reds can still hope for a place in the top four of the Premier League, as they comfortably won 0-3 against relegation-threatened Leicester City on Monday evening. As a result, Erik ten Hag and his team must continue winning.

While Manchester United has been dropping points consistently in recent weeks, Liverpool won for the seventh consecutive time on Monday evening. Thanks to two goals from Curtis Jones, both assisted by Mohammed Salah - who also provided the final pass for Trent Alexander-Arnold's impressive third goal - Liverpool found themselves in a comfortable position after just over half an hour of play.

Cody Gakpo, who started in the lineup alongside Virgil van Dijk, then had the golden opportunity to score the third goal for Liverpool but was denied by goalkeeper Daniel Iversen. However, Liverpool's team, under Jürgen Klopp, eventually found their third goal: the rejuvenated Alexander-Arnold phenomenally curled the ball into the top corner (see below). As a result, the stands started to empty for The Foxes, who remain below the relegation line after yet another defeat.

Liverpool thus reduces the gap with United to just one point, but Ten Hag still has a game in hand. The difference with Liverpool is essentially four points, but The Red Devils have a slightly tougher schedule, including a match against Chelsea. Furthermore, Liverpool is currently in top form. Interestingly, third-placed Newcastle also has the same number of points, so both Liverpool and Manchester United could still secure a spot in the prestigious Champions League.
