AC Milan claimed a 3–0 away victory at Udinese on Saturday, drawing level, for the moment, with reigning champions Napoli in second place in Serie A, just behind Juventus, who dropped their first points of the season in the fourth round.

It was in the 40th minute that the Rossoneri opened the scoring, with American international Christian Pulisic capitalising on two deflections to slot the ball home.

Early in the second half, French midfielder Youssouf Fofana pounced on a loose ball in the box to make it 2–0, and it was once again Pulisic who struck in the 52nd minute after a scramble in the area, sealing a win that leaves Udinese in sixth place with seven points.

Milan now have the same nine points as champions Napoli, who can reclaim sole leadership on Monday if they defeat Pisa at home.

Until then, Juventus remain top with 10 points, after dropping points for the first time with a 1–1 draw away at Verona, where Francisco Conceição found the net and João Mário conceded a penalty.

In the 19th minute, Francisco Conceição fired into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box, scoring his first goal of the season after linking up with Khephren Thuram.

The equaliser came on the stroke of half-time following a VAR review, when the ball struck João Mário’s arm as he attempted to head clear with an opponent right behind him. Nigerian striker Gift Orban made no mistake from the spot.

With three draws in four games, Verona sit 15th with three points.

Elsewhere, Bologna pulled off a dramatic home comeback against Genoa, securing their second win of the campaign thanks to a 90+9 penalty. Genoa, featuring Portuguese forward Vitinha in the starting XI, are still without a victory.

Icelandic midfielder Mikael Egill Ellertsson put the visitors ahead in the 63rd minute, but Argentine Santiago Castro equalised in the 73rd, before Riccardo Orsolini converted the decisive penalty in stoppage time.

Bologna now sit provisionally in eighth place with six points, while Genoa drop to 17th with just two.
