In February of this year, the Premier League accused Manchester City of violating over a hundred financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. The Citizens were alleged to have not cooperated with the ongoing investigation after that period. An independent commission is now examining the Premier League's charges.

During a press conference ahead of the away match against Brighton & Hove Albion, Guardiola was asked about the status of the investigation. "I hope the Premier League and the commission will make their findings public as soon as possible. Sooner rather than later. If it turns out that we haven't done anything wrong, as we are convinced, then others won't have any doubts either," said the City manager, who has led the team to three consecutive English titles.

"Why should such an investigation take two years? Why can't it be faster? You can sit down with lawyers within 24 hours. Hopefully, the commission members are not too busy. In any case, we are not worried about anything," added Guardiola.

Future

During the press conference, City's manager also briefly discussed his future plans. "Don't worry, I'll stay here as long as there are still 115 charges against us. I'm not thinking about a new step. But who knows... Regardless of the results in the upcoming finals, I want to stay here. I still have a valid contract," said Guardiola, who is contracted with the English champions until mid-2025.

City still has a chance to achieve a historic treble this season. On Saturday, June 3rd, they will face local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley, and on Saturday, June 10th, they will take on Internazionale in the Champions League final in Istanbul.
