Arsenal can forget about the title after their defeat against Brighton (0-3)

Arsenal can forget about their first English league title since 2004. The Londoners surprisingly lost at home to Brighton & Hove Albion (0-3) on Sunday and saw the gap to leaders Manchester City, who earlier in the day beat Everton (0-3), increase to 4 points. Manchester City also played one game less.

Arsenal had plenty of chances in the first half against Brighton & Hove Albion, where Dutch defender Joël Veltman was still missing due to injury. Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka hit the post twice and Gabriel Jesus also had a chance. Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli had to leave the field with an injury early on.

Brighton struck in the second half. Paraguayan Julio Enciso headed the ball into the net from close range in the 51st minute after a cross from the left: 0-1. It got even worse for Arsenal in the final stages, as they defended poorly and saw Deniz Undav score in the 86th minute (0-2). In injury time, Pervis Estupiñán added another goal.

Manchester City can secure the title next Sunday with a win in the home game against Chelsea. Thanks to the victory, Brighton rose to sixth place and has a good chance of playing European football next season.
